Weather

The dry season is from December to April, while the rainy season is from May to November, usually causing sunny mornings and heavy showers in the afternoons. Therefore, it is recommended to start your visit in the morning hours. The atmospheric conditions near the main crater are cloudy with strong winds, due to the wind mountain passes (main crater remains closed due to possible volcanic hazards near the craters)

From November to February could be days extremely windy all over the park.

Las Pailas section of the park is very hot and dry.  Temperatures usually exceed 32° degrees (90) during the day and low 20° (70) at night.  This area receives 2,000 mm (79 inches) of rain annually.  Those visiting the Santa Maria side, which is on the Caribbean slope, should expect temperatures to be 5 – 10 degrees lower than the other section and a little more rain.
